Student Led Conference At the end of term, each students will present a 15 minute reflection of their learning and development in Galileo; focusing on skills, knowledge and personal qualities. Students will present to a parent/guardian, their home group teacher and any other family/friends they would like to invite. The presentation is evidence based, so students should begin collecting evidence of their learning throughout the term. Preparation Use this document to help you prepare. You can print this out and use it as your speaker's notes on the day, or create your own cue cards if you like.
Visual Presenation:
You should use powerpoint, prezi or glogster to assist you with your presentation. You can also bring in physical evidence such as documents, posters or other items.
A powerpoint template will be made available soon. Make sure you complete the preparation sheet before you start putting visual evidence into your powerpoint.
Student Led Conference Role Play As preparation for your Student Led Conference, you might like to perform a role play with 2 classmates
The roles in your group are: 1. Student 2. Parent/Guardian 3. Teacher
- As the Student, you will introduce your parent/guardian to the Teacher, and present your learning to your ‘parents’, keeping closely to your running sheet and responding to questions at the end of your interview. - As the Parent/Guardian, you will greet the teacher and listen quietly to the Student presentation, taking notes about anything that is unclear, or for which you will have further questions. You may ask any questions you have about your child’s learning and work over the term at the end of the interview (5 minutes). - As the Teacher, you will greet the parent/Guardian and listen to the presentation. You may ask a question here and there to redirect the presentation if it seems to be losing focus or going over time.
Instructions: Take it in turns to play each of the roles listed above. After each role play, the students' playing the Teacher and Parent should give feedback to the Student regarding their depth of reflection, quality of evidence and overall presentation skills.
